Landscape Installation

About the Project

These homeowners visited our booth this past spring at the Dayton Home & Garden Show where we were displaying and selling Weaver barns.

They decided to purchase the newest style for 2011: the Craftsman. This shed is a 10x14. The outside has a premier wood siding that is tongue-and-groove treated pine, 30-year shingles on the roof, a 3' single door on the front, 3 windows across the front with flower boxes and shutters, a window on the side with a flower box and shutters, and a set of 5' double doors on the other side. The inside includes 2 lofts on either side, a work bench, and a continuous ridge vent and soffit ventilation system. (Contact us for additional information on Weaver Barns)

The first thing we had to do was remove their existing shed from the back yard. We then installed a 4" gravel base pad for the new barn to sit on. After the shed was installed and painted, we expanded the existing flower beds, built them up with topsoil, and installed all new plant material around the front and sides of the new structure. We also installed a curve linear flag stone and gravel path from the back door of the house to the front door of the shed.

There were several white pines across the back yard that were becoming difficult to maintain, so we removed them and installed slow growing blue spruce trees in their place. The homeowners were looking for more screening along the side of their property line, so we installed emerald green arborvitae shrubs that will grow tall and become dense to provide the privacy that was desired.

The homeowners had a mounded flower bed next to their back patio with a huge weeping cherry tree in the middle of it. We removed the tree, leveled off the area, and installed low maintenance boxwood shrubs and knockout roses. We also installed knockout roses across the back yard.

At each corner of the front of the house, we installed ornamental crabapple trees and endless summer hydrangea. Channel drain filled with washed gravel was installed so the down spouts would not wash out the mulch onto the lawn. We also installed global blue spruce on either side of the driveway. After all the new plants were installed, we spread new mulch throughout all of the flower beds, providing a beautiful, finished appearance.
